removing track rod end from strut

  1. #1
been trying for the last hour but i can't get it to come out of the strut, tried a fork type balljoint remover, hitting with bug hammer and moving around the steering to see if it frees up

i could just cut it off but i only replaced it a few months back so would obviously rather keep it intact

put the nut back on so the nut is flush with the top of the threads and hit with a big hammer should work, if not you can try heating it up a little or go to machine mart and get a ball joint splitter the clamp type though one of these http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...-joint-remover

hit it side on rather than from top/bottom

    that tool will work

otherwise, get a long bar and jam it between the rod end and the arm on the strut, so you lever the rod upwards. Whilst maintaining pressure on that, hit the bolt bit of the rod end. Might need someone to help lever while you hit it. Should work fine
