Throttle body/ICV

My car used to rev by itself to 2000 revs. It then stopped and after two weeks it has come back but rather going to 2000 revs it drops below 0 and either stalls itself or pretty much nearly stall. Do I need to clean the throttle body?? / icv? If so how?

    yes you do

remove airbox / induction kit with the hose
locate three torx keys on the throttle box (T25 i think)
undo and remove the torx screws
disconnect the sensors usualy 2 at the rear, 1 at the front and a grey 1 underneath
    disconnect the throttle cable

now pull it of may be a bit stiff / stuck but jiggle it off

    once off

you will see the ICV at the rear, its the top sensor plug at the rear

remove it with the 2 torx screws holding it on (T20 i think)

now clean the throttle body and the ICV with carb cleaner not wd40 (wd40 is oil based)

also soak a rag with carb cleaner and clean as much of the inlet manifold u can get to

    refit is simple
should not take no longer that 30 mins

    good luck

sorry if spelling is wrong i gt a new keyboard and keys are very stiff lol

also might be the green top coolent temp sensors at fault, once u clean that and if the problem still happens..

leave the car to tick over at idle and locate the green temp sensor at the right hand side of the engine (thermostat housing) and disconnect it while car the car is running if the revs drop to normal it means u sensor is at fault,

mine cost £12.50 from my local dealership,

and a new idle control valve on ebay cost £20
