Hammerite

  1. #1
Looking to protect Shirley over the upcoming winter months from rust and sorts, heard Hammerite's the best stuff to use. But as for applying it - am I best off painting it on, or using the spray can?

Also, main points of rust on a saxo so I can really chuck the stuff on

    Thank You

Don't bother with the spray can Hammerite, its far too watery

I'm guessing your targetting the underside of the car and arches?

If so i've been recommended (and used) Waxoyl, its made by Hammerite but as the name suggests it never truely dries, just goes very sticky so it take ages for it to wear down, where as paint getting chiiped and flakes...

I'd recommend using a paintbrush to apply it, and do a few coats!

Very messy but once done gives a very good coating to the vunerable parts

Bits i did were all four inner arches and the underside of the boot floor (rear arches/boot floor are the main rust targets)

+1 for wax oil, put the container in a bucket of hot water for 10 mins before use, makes it much easier to apply.

    Waxoil is better imo
