   take it off mate be alot easier to sand etc

   Providing its just a standard bolt through the glass one yes take it off

   i think its sealed on so what would be the easiest way to get it off? and would spray cans be ok?

   Not sure how to get it off. Spray cans should be fine, make sure you sand it properly and put even layers of paint on it and it will be fine.
