Mayo in coolant

did a service the other day, changed the coolant and the dreaded mayo like substance bubbled up to the top when i put the new cooalnt in. is this something to worry about?

Keep an eye on the cooling system as a mayo can be a sign of head gasket failure.

However it could have been old crap in the cooling system that was flushed out by the coolant change.

You can also get a build up if the car is used for lots of short journeys - engine doesn't get up to temp to burn off the residue.

Can you smell a petrol smell in the coolant? As this is a sign of head gasket failure.

White smoke from exhaust is also a symptom of HG failure.

No smell of fuel, and no white smoke, runs smooth. Also yeh i do do alot of short journeys. il keep my eye on it then, Fingers crossed its not the head gasket on the way out

similar thing happend to me mate, i though it was the gasket but found out it was dodgey wiring to cooling fan and it wasnt kicking in to cool the engine down

Possible head gasket, flush the system properly and stick some fresh in, flush again, then sling the last load in and run it through
