no drive- wont go into any gear?

   bought a saxo furio as a non runner...
   engine turns over fine but the gearbox or clutch have gone i think?
   wont go into any gear with engine on or off... makes a slight rattling noise when running until you put the clutch in?
   any ideas which its likely to be or how i can check for deffinate?

   could be the synchro?

   Sounds like gearbox to me.

   iv had a similar problem.. only my car decided to not change gear as i was in the middle lane of a busy dual carraige traffic lights....
   
   after getting towed home i managed to slip the gear in n out while engine was off.. but my clutch pedal went light... i thought it was a simple case of changing the cable bt after finding out my cable was fine i asked around n was told its the clutch n most lkely the plates ( cnt remember the name i was told..) im getting this fixed early next week... dont know if this has any thing to do with your problem bt hope it gives you some possibilities..

   either a dodgy gearbox or possibly the roll pin might have failed which makes it nigh on impossible to select gears. you checked the linkages?
