Oil Pressure Switch..

  1. #1
    Hey all

Today i travelled 200 odd miles to visit my sister, and about 3/4s of the way the oil light came on the dash. Pulled over, and there was oil leaking pretty constantly. I called my breakdown guy and he said the oil pressure switch has given up on life but he cant do anything about it on the road which sucked.

I managed to get to my sisters (slowly as i had to refill oil half way) but im just wondering if the replacement part is easy to come by? (Im gunna buy it from a dealer and fit myself to save on labour) but i was told only citroen stock them? And i dont wanna get ripped off.. Or stranded 200miles from home :\

Any help on pricing/stockists and fitting would be much appreciated

i would say it would cost between 10-15 quid. won`t imagine its expensive tbh. you should be able to get to it under the front bumper on your car.its basically under the oil filter, its just a case of unclipping the wire to the sensor and unbolting the switch. i would just go to citroen if its local.

How much you reckon a garage will charge for labour?

    parts prices approx
    £19 at dealer
    £6 at eurocarparts

if you cant fit it yourself shouldnt cost much, if you have time try yourself just take your time with it... and if in doubt take a few pic along the way to help you if you get stuck...

I got the part for £5.70 from a Autofactor place and then rang around loads of garages to find out who can do it cheapest (didnt feel confident doing it myself, and also if they feck it up then i can do something about it )
Believe it or not, one of the main upmarket garages gave me cheapest - F1 quoted £26 for half hour work cause apparently thats all it needed (Y)
