#3True, looking at all of 12hp?
Mine used to rev slightly when idle for no reason but i left it and it stopped.
OR it could be that the ecu has two maps on it and its flicking between the two? Haha jokes when you see that -
#4cheers mate, someone said it could be a clogged catylitic converter but im not sure, could that cause the car to bog right down, but then it just picks up again, same wih the revving thing, its done it twice now?? , dont worry tho il be gettin ridda this and gettin a vtr soon

#5The cat idea is a possibility. I had a similar issue with my 316 compact a few yrs ago. Imagine the inside of the cat as a honeycomb with loads of holes, as it breaks up its possible for it to turn sideways which blocks all the airflow and will cause it to bog dramatically, when that happened on my bmw it was epic, it would just sit there idling no matter what i did with the pedal.
Have a check around the engine for any loose or broken vacuum hoses too. Do it when the engine it cold tho so you can have a feel behind the engine. My sister has an old shape twingo that kept revving high, we bought an Idle control valve, a throttle position sensor, serviced it and stripped and cleaned the throttle body. Then we noticed that a hose had just fallen off, put it back on and it ran like a dream. A waste of £100 but a lesson to check the free stuff first!1 user thanked this post: -
