Urgent problem

Hi i was just checkin my tread on my tyres with my stepdad. What we did was i firstly took handbrake off and turned the wheels and locked them up so we could see the mark tht shows how much tread was left. Everything went ok but i need 2 front tyres as there getting low. Anyway i decided to go for a quick ride but as soon as i turned the steering wheel it was soo stiff i couldnt hardly turn it. My step dad said go for a quick ride see if it loosens i was a bit warey of this but did it anyway. I was going along and about a few corners later i thought this is crazy it couldnt even turn i had to actually put strengh into turning the wheel. Then i heard 2 bangs i had no idea where they came from so i stopped and looked round my car and underneath it to check if anything else was wrong but it seemed fine. So i went on struggling to turn corners this was only down the road btw no cars about. Anyway i was coming back home and the steering went from being dead stiff to really loose i was like wtf is going on. So now the steering seems looser then before or is that just me. My step dad after took the car out and said it seemed fine. What the heck is wrong with my car. I know it was to do with locking the wheels up when i was checking tread but i dnt know whats happend. I dont want to be going along around a corner and my steering to stiffen up again or i will be fucked. Many thanks

Dodgey PAS pump, sounds odd and dangerous frankley if i was you i would take it straight to a garage, no point risking it.

either pas pump or if it locks wheels up then its more likely to be a cv joint intermittently locking, that'd explain the bangs you heard

So what should i do?. It was fine before i locked the wheels up to check the tread but tht shouldnt of casued this problem surely. The only other thiing i can say is that my cars bin squealing for a while now. When i rev it it squeals.

CV joints would be a good call for the bangs. It could be something to do with the pas piston jamming and then freeing itself again. God knows. I would get it checked out

This is going to be costly isnt it ? I was going to get a full servive do you think i should go to a garage first to get it checked out or would they find the problem while servicing it.

i'd get it sorted a.s.a.p mate. like the guys above said sounds like a dodgy power steering pump.
