VTR fuel pressure problems

  1. #1
I'm trying to put a silvertop into my mates mk1.
The mk1 has 2 fuel lines that go to the engine bay, but the silvertop only needs 1 fuel line.....no return.
How do i convert this, so that i can run the engine in his car?
I have an aftermarket fpr to use if needed

the return pipe is litterali just a pipe tht runs frm bay to tank, just pull it out and block the hole

Ok, but the mk1 has a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail...
The fpr on the silvertop should be next to the fual tank.
How would i get around that problem. I'm pretty sure that the fuel pump will need some kind of regulator on it? No?

why are you putting a silvertop into a mk1? the are practically the same engines, if you are tyring to gain anything

is the engine a blacktop origionally i assume?

    right

if you are using the blacktop ecu still you will need to keep the return in there, you dont need to convert anything really, just swap a few bits around, all you need to do is use the silvertop injectors as the blacktop ones wont fit the silvertop head, then just use the blacktop fuel rail and sill run a return
if you are using the silvertop ecu you wont need the return so can get rid, but im unsure how exactly you would get rid of it, someone else will have to answer that

Yeh, the mk1 was a blacktop. Converting to silvertop.
Using the silvertop ecu, loom, and complete engine.
Again tho, the only thing bothering me is the fuel pressure regulator....Without one, won't the car overfuel?

    ahh i see

why the change to silvertop though?

as for the fpr, off the top of my head you can just leave it in the fuel rail, it will still work the same i think,it doesnt really matter where it is in the system as long as it has one

hen just do what mark1311 said and just pull the return out and block it all up

Changing to a silvertop coz the old blacktop kicked a piston, and i have a silvertop lying around.
And i hear that the blacktop has 89hp...silvertop has 100ish

Don't have a blacktop rail here tho. I was planning on using everything from the silvertop.

Oh you mean the later silvertop with 3plug ecu? Yes it is 98bhp but I cnt remember what they changed to get that, but it seems a lot extra on paper but driving the car your not guna notice a huge change, maybe a tad better

If it is a 3plug ecu and loom, then unless you know how to rewire the multiplugs and swap them it's useless

I think the engine it's self may still be usable though, may need to change some of the plugs etc and u will need to use the inlet that comes with that engine too

Unless it's a single plug silvertop then it will fit, but you won't gain anything as that's 90bhp too same as blacktop engine

Have you not thought about 16v conversion since you've the current engine has gone and your taking it out?
Or even like an s2 rallye engine it will bolt straight in, you can use your standard inlet edu and loom, and you will make more power as it has a better cam standard, there's an s2 engine for sale atm on rallye reg I think or 106owners
