Gearbox leak - not driveshaft seal

Ok so the otherday the car started smoking when i pulled up at the gf's, had a look and there was oil pissing out of the gearbox, its defonately gearbox oil as the smell and thickness of it is unmistakeable. Initialy i thought it would be the driveshaft seal so i changed that and its still leakimg quite abit, its coming from the bottom of the gearbox also the gearbox is making a knocking and grinding noise when the clutch is pushed in, ive tried refilling the oil but no difference.
Can anyone help or isit time to get a new box?

try and find out whats caused the hole, first check the drain plug, if not its usually something fired out through the casing that causes it, ie a failed bearing. chances are youll need a new one, cheaper buying second hand or reconditioned as its quite labour intensive to repair a gearbox

Think mine might have the same problem. I've noticed oil leaking out the bottom of the gearbox and i get a knocking noise, not all the time but sometimes. Have noticed that when i press the clutch down the noise seems to go. Also had the driveshaft changed but still have the leak.

Stick your head under and have a look. Oil can only leak from drain or filler plugs and shaft oil seals. Anywhere else and it's done for. Have you recently had the box apart for a new clutch or anything like that?

Wipe the area its dripping from as you never know it could just be running down from a leak further up, just get under the car and have a poke about but deffo will need new box and maybe clutch aswell if oil has got onto the friction plate.
