ive got this engine. im pretty sure its a 98bhp vtr but it really doesn't seem fast enough. am i right or is it not a vtr. the airbox is off a 1.1 so ignor that lol.
identify this engine please :/

#2picture does'nt work
-
#4Picture would help
-
#5that better?
-
#6Could be any of the 8v's from looking at the picture imo. Someone else might be able to tell though.
-
#7The writing says "saxo 1355", if the number represents the CC then its close to the furio (1360), and its 3 plug, so i would guess its a furio engine?
-
#8I agree with paul, the 1.4 furio and vtr have the same rockers too? .. No idea.
-
#9see thats my problem. ive trided to find engine number no luck. so how else do you tell :s im pretty sure it would either be a 03 furio or 03 vtr but no sure which.
-
#10Whack it on a rolling road, i'd put my money on it coming out around 68-70bhp.
-
#11The only noticeable difference is the inlet manifold and the airbox.
Im sure VTRs have more lines on the inlet. I'll go quickly take a look.
Although -
#12Pretty sure that's a vtr mate, same inlet as mine from what I can see
-
#13If you really want to know what it is measure the throttle body.
-
#14what shall i measure?
-
#15I remember reading something on here about a tu5jp blocks attracting magnet and furios/1.1s doesnt - cant really remember who said that though...
-
#16Compare it with my old Vtr engine!
-
#17Looks the exact same as my furio engine. But im sure VTR's look pretty much the same too.
-
#18Edit, The inlet pipes are off a late model alloy block 1.1 or 1.4. Though i think the engine is a VTR going by the photo but its years from the last time i looked at one.
-
#20ill just land it on a rolling road and see outcome. it is a steel block tho.
-
#21If its the original, tap the reg plate into DVLA as if you were about to tax it online, and it'll tell you the cars engine size + colour

Edit: I failed as It isn't the original lol - Erm the box on the right isn't the same as my MRK2 1.1, so it's not a 1.1 lol. Take it to a 'track' and see how fast it goes, then check top speeds on parkers for each engine
-
#22it is a late 8v engine, but you cant tell from a picture which one 1.1 1.4 or 1.6...
again if its not the original its even harder... because you cant tell by the car (interior etc)
rolling road time if you really want to know... or take it apart
-
#23think thats what im going to do. im not taking apart too long lol but rolling road is sweet
ty

#24You can tell its a late model engine due to its cam cover, the lambda on top of the manifold, the coil pack, the oil filter position, 3 plug ECU and so on. Though I am wrong upon having a closer look its a VTR. Probably off a 53 plate or there abouts. I thought I made out a alloy block but its just the mount. My bad
-
#25My money is on a VTR
As above thou, could be a Furio or a 1.1 (personally i dont think its one of these) -
#26text check the car it came from reg plate? if your desperate?
-
#27floor it in second, if you get almost 60 out of 2nd it's a vtr.
i joke, this is a pikey method that leads only in fail
