Bad Bad creaking from Rear...

my vtr has developed a bad case of the creaks.. (not knocking!!)
It started about a week ago.. I heard a creak from the rear, but thought nothing of it, but now its hoorendous..
Its coming from the drivers side rear but i cant pin point the fault..it creaks when driving along a normal road but its really bad when i park up and put the handbrake on and the arse end dips or rises depending on what hill im on. I can create the noise by pushing up and down on the boot.
I have had both shockers off and checked them, Its not the exhaust or spare wheel. My rear wheel cambers are spot on, no play in the axle bearings and i have no knocking noises from the rear. (when my shockers were off, i did lift the trailing arms up and down and they seemed to be smooth and ok..)
ive used an entire can of wd40 on the bushes but still the noise is there..
    fucking french shed..
anyone experienced this before?? please dont say axle bearings!! :s

is the hanbrake short or long. e.g. how many clicks doesnt it take to reach top?
also you had the drum off itself?

check the boot floors not creaking, they rot and can cause the noise you describe when they crack

has a caliper been changed because that will cause it if the handbrake cable has to be stretched into the arm thing, mine was and this caused the brakes to squeal

    just an update to this...
I had time today to examine where the creaking was coming from, and i found the drivers side rear axle was at fault.
i pulled off the anti roll bar end plate and found that my outer bearing seal was completely split and wrapped around the anti roll bar.. the seal was rubbing the inside of the tube and causing it to resonate through the axle..
Luckily, the axle bearings and tube are all ok so thats saved me a bundle!! i got 2 seals from citroen (gonna replace the other side just incase) for 4 quid each..
just goes to show, if you catch it quick enough you can save alot of damage being done!!
