105bhp 1.1 106

    howdy

    Right my friend has a 1.1 106 its stripped with 2 buckets...

    Engine mods - its had headwork and thats it.. and its got straight thought centre section and a back back..

    He says its a 105bhp on a RR and he said it would whipe the floor on 0-60 with a VTS...

    What do you think?

    i thinks its safe to say your mate is fibbing, headwork will not make that much of an increase in power at all.

    The 1.1 gearbox is shorter than the VTS so that would help with acceleration. But the "S" would still edge ahead I think...

    Thats assuming you mate does have 105bhp

    i think unles its got a vtr engine in hes full of shit, if its totally stripped with just two buckets and a vtr lump with headwork it could well show a few standard vts' up to 60, but in most likleyness hes full of porkie pies

    1.1 is 60bhp (I think?) standard

    Stipped and some 'head work and aftermarket exhaust' give it 45bhp more power......your mate is lying out of his chuff

    even if it did have 105bhp atw, which if definately wont lol, a vts would still edge ahead tbh expecially after 60mph due to the extra torque

    Typical 1.0 owner bullshit, they reckon they are the fastest things in the world and usualy come up with lines like 'its really fast for a 1.0'. My mate reckons his 1 litre polo will do 120mph and that it will do 0-60 under 10 seconds lol

    Me thinks it is a VTR lump, and either he's lying to you, or he doesn't realise himself. Stripped with a VTR lump, breathing mods and a 1.1 box does just about keep up with VTS's, but certainly doesn't wipe the floor with them.

    After 100 the 1.1 box really doesnt do any favours. Takes aeons to get higher. Accelleration though is silly!!

    fully rebuilt with forged pistons,h beams, oversized valves, huge amount of headwork, ram air and camed wild`ly, full race remap, 4-2-1 and scafolding pole out the back lol

    .... but no i get an argument over some wanker lol

    Here is a serious question if you're still getting an argument off him...

    Headwork increases air-flow. That's the point. Let's *assume* he increased that engine's airflow to that of a VTS. The sensors will still only sense 'atmospheric pressure' when the throttle is wide open, and the ECU will only get a 'full throttle' signal.

    Where does the extra fuel come from? You've massively increased the air, but the ECU/sensors have NO WAY of measuring it, therefore cannot add fuel. The car would lean-out and melt something the first time you floored it.

    Not to mention the tiny injectors, weak-ass fuel pump and on and on. That's the way to 'win' the argument mate.

    Really? I have a stripped 90bhp vtr and its not really that much slower than my mates gti. Would have thought cams would atleast make it equally as fast.
    Think you need to link him to a thread on 106OC, someone had a turbo 1.1 which made about 135bhp iirc. I'll see if I can find it.
