Wiring second fan to switch.

  1. #1
Want to try and wire my second fan to a switch on the dash.

Is it a 30amp relay I will need?
and where to get the feeds from for the fan and internal switch (constant live would be good).

Wire from positive battery terminal to one side of the switch, other side of the switch to the fan and then a wire from the fan to a earth point in the engine bay. Should be one near the ecu and washer bottle.

Thats how mine is wired in, it can be used when keys are out too. good for if you are doing a track day and want to cool the car.

i dont understand why ppl wire into switches. why dont u just splice into the loom for the other fan so they come on at the same time?

I wired mine in as its my only one and the wiring to loom wouldnt work for some reason.

Plus if you want the fan to come on at a certain point having at least one wired to a switch means you can.

Probably wants to leave one fan running after blasting round track.

and I don't really want to go around splicing the loom.
Prefer to use a relay too so I don't have heavy gauge wire every where.

Is it not possible to have the best of both worlds splice it into the loom so they are both coming on at the same time but also splice a switch into the +ve and -ve of the second fan?

*Warning I may sound like a n00b I have no electrical expertise lol*

Oh and I have read the above but it is for future reference
