Near MOT time, and now I have a noise problem :(

    Hello All

Was driving back from Devon earlier, and have developed a problem. It has 2 symptoms ( I think its the same problem causing it) and they are:

    1. Theres a squeaking noise coming from the drivers side front area of the car as the wheels turn.

    2. When slowing the car down (foot off the accelerator) the car has a loud noise, possibly something vibrating I think. The noise continues even with the car out of gear when moving, no revs, and also continues if I turn the engine off completely. Dad seems to think it may be something to do with the transmission. Any ideas???

The car is a 2k Saxo VTS, only mod done so far is a saxsport decat exhaust system.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    - Jack up Driverside High! put axle stand underneath
    - Remove wheel
    - Undo bottom ball joint bolt
    - use crowbar/prybar to get bottom ball joint out of strut,
    - Undo Track rod end bolt from strut
    - Undo Drop link bolt
    - Undo Driveshaft bolt (BIG nut)
-Crawl under car undo intermediate bearing bolts 2x 11mm use a spanner and be patient
    - use pry bar and put by the intermediate bearing housing to push the shaft out of the box,
    - pull shaft out
    - look at shaft there is a bearing on it you need to replace that. (don't know how i did the whole shaft)
    - Refit reverse of removal.
