Clunk when coming off accelerator.

Sorry to post this again, but i never found out what the problem was, just ignored it.

I have a real knocking sound, sounding l ike it's coming from directly underneath the drivers seat, or slightly in the middle. This happens when I bring my foot off the accelerator.

It happens more in lower gears, especially first, second and third. I can make it do it in both fourth and fifth, just it dorsnt happen as often.

If i am in first, and I bring my foot off the accelerator to change, it makes a knock or a clunk, sounding like metal hitting metal? But if i am stationary it doesn't happen.

I had a quick look under the car today, and it really sounds like it's coming from the front, i checked all the exhaust mountings at the rear and middle, just don't know what else to check? Ive tried to rock the whole engine when stationary, and there is no movement.

Any ideas for me to try? Thank you in advance!

its right by the front anti roll bar at the front centre also by the exhaust front springs. should be obious as it sticks down and attaches to the chassis and gearbox/engine.

if its the bolt.. well its a bolt Lol! you will have to support the engine though as when the bolt is removed the engine will rock

VVV unlikley the actual mount would of broken.

    lower mount or ball joints

Doesn't sound like lower engine mount if you cannot rock the engine.

Possibly exhaust catching on something, or a loose heatshield or a little speed freak gremlin in your engine bay smacking stuff when you slow down?

pahhaha made me giggle, its suprising how much the engine does move and its difficult to rock the engine from the engine bay as the pivot points are on the top of the engine. i get the impression from him that its a substantial knock with some weight behind it...... no harm in checking.

Yeah definately worth a check. Careful you don't get hit by the gremlin mind you.
