aftermarket exhausts and MOT failure?? info needed please!!?

   i have been reading up on here about aftermarket exhausts and failing mot's some people are saying that aslong as its not over 98db its okay, some people are saying its not allowed to be over OEM sound levels.
   
   does anyone work in a garage or mot station, that can tell me how it actually work????
   
   or has anyone recently had their car pass an mot with exhaust alterations???
   
   ive got a sportex backbox, and its definately louder the OEM :/

   tbh bud ive worked in a mot station and been a tester for 4 years now and the truth is i never had a db tester and havent see one in my time as long its fitted propley and dosent brake windows when u go hareing down ur road u bee ok

   That's what the mot states. Down to the examiner's discretion at the end of the day.

   have you ever had any vehicles which the exhaust is clearly louder then standard. which you've passed/failed??

   mines fairly beasty and hasn;t failed. mrs is worse than mine and didn;t fail.

   Testers discretion!...i know other testers who have failed for being too loud! I personally wouldnt!
   
   If you can pass the emmissions i couldnt care less tbh.

    i've had a car fail it's mot as exhaust was to loud but took it to a different tester and passed fine so down to the tester.
