106 gti plugs

   a mate has a problem... after coming back from trax, his car was misfiring and running on very few cylinders.. after getting it home, took off the coilpack to see the 1st spark plug is attatched to the coilpack... the thread on the block has gone where the plug would attatch.... what can be done to sort this... can you re thread the hole or will it then be too big?

   covered plenty of times
   a helicoil can be used
