17" rims

  1. #1
    Hi all,

as per my progress thread i have 17" TSW's which came with the car and it slightly rubs when i am in full lock, i would like to lower it but not sure how much i can do without it rubbing more and is there anything i can do to eradicate the rubbing?

I still have the VTR wheels from my old saxo (RIP)

    Cheers

One of my previous saxos had 17" rims and was down 40mm. It used to rub with anymore than 2 people in car, over bridges, and on full lock.

Mine rubs now with no passengers..

I think its just rubbing off the trim, i believe the tyres are 205/??/R17

I took the trims out, they're just plastic held on by plastic bungs.

Sounds like you're a fat bastard

Your best bet mate would be to sell the 17's and fit some 15/14 inch alloys imo. 17's look too big on a saxo and your speedo will be miles out with them fitted. Plus slower acceleration etc.

I have 17s on now, providing nobody sits in the back they dont rub at all, and only very slightly on full lock (dont usually notice it) and its lowered, although not sure how much tbh....poss 40mm I think...with no arch liners in as Paul said they just pull out

How does it look without arch liners?!

    Better or worse?

You don't really notice them. I hammerited mine black.

without the arch liners the engine bay/underside of the bonnet and in the door shuts gets muddy as . 17's are more hassle than there worth. I wont ever go bigger than 16's tbh

Cant really see the difference mate tbh, ill try get a picture up when I go home of how it looks, but I think its fine...LSOfreak door shuts and bay arent that bad tbh, just keep them clean doesnt take much work

Would sell the 17's and buy yourself a decent set of 15's such as OZ SuperT's (Im biased ), OZ Ultra's, Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's or even VTS alloys.

Check if anyone would trade you a set of 15's for your 17's?

Speedo isnt that far out actually as long as you have low profile tyres (I had 40's), speedo was actualy more accurate than my other vts at the time lol!
