'ECU' engine mount

Getting a fairly faint, but annoying knock when I let the clutch out to pull away or when I stab at the throttle when rolling along in gear (basically whenever the engine rocks).

Sitting in the car, the noise sounds quite close, if that makes sense? Definitely comes from the drivers side of the car. Lower and upper gearbox mounts are Grp N items and are near enough brand new.

Checked the ECU engine mount tonight and the rubber bits that sit either side of the mount are perished and just about split all the way through. Sounds like this could be the cause?

    Cheers

    The buffers?

Could be, seeing as you've installed solid mounts else where then they would need to be in tip top condition. Most are perished but people don't notice because the engine doesn't move that much as standard.

Would be worth replacing them anyway.

I get this mate since I fit my Grp N top mount, It doesn't really bother me too much. It doesn't sound as aggressive as what you are describing, plus the vibrations it removed make up for it.

Ah my bad, didn't realise the buffers were seperate from the mount itself. I'd say the buffers on mine are pretty rogered... do they normally cause any faint knocking noises or can only the mount itself cause them?

Is there any way I can check the condition of the main mount?
