what would you do with £500

  1. #1
AS thread states you have £500 burning a hole in your pocket.

now i have a literally standard vts
    lowered
    magnex pipe
    black vts alloys
    stipped rear

in your opinion to make this little pocket rocket quicker what would you choose.
or what would your perfect setup be as in engine modifications.

    thankyou all.

sorry ps what sort of bhp should i see with your ideal setups?

Magnex pipe? Full system or just backbox, or middle pipe, cat or decat?

    Bahh i'm too tired,

    I'll say for now

    Cheap 2nd hand manifold £110
    Cheap 2nd hand exhaust £100
    Induction kit - £50
    Lower strut brace £30.00
    266 or 283 Brake upgrade £110
    Fibreglass bonnet £100

The above list is assuming you already have a suspension set up. Wont see much gains in terms of bhp figures. But BHP figures are simply for pub-talk. Dont get too hung up on them. You will be able to tell a difference whilst driving.

as far as i know it has a decat bit of a noob as ive been driving the thing more than admiring it. my apologies.

im honestly not worried about not having a cat etc. will update the info tomorrow as am not going to look under the car at this time aha.

whats the big deal with the pugsports, saxports,

i know they sound very raspy and pop and bang etc but is there alot of power gain? a pal has 1 one on his GTI but im not going to bother changin unless their is noticeable power gains
  5. #5
On my current GTI i have a 4-2-1 stainless steel manifold matched up with a full stainless steel pugsport system. Honest it is worth it. Simply by putting your hand behind the exhaust there is power behind the fumes, they come out in pulses, its pretty hard to describe.

Where as in the past when i've had el-cheapo drainpipes coming out the back theres no pressure behind the fumes as such.

The manifold will play a bigger part in the above though, i wouldn't put a pugsport on a standard manifold, might aswell do the job properly and do the whole lot at the same time.

i would masturbate and then use it to wipe up my jizz

If youve already got all of the above like exhaust and suspension etc I'd spend the 500 on weight saving... Find some light 2nd hand bucket seats, fibgerglass/carbon bonnet, lighter alloys? Vts alloys arn't the lightest of wheels tbh. c5 "steelies" are ultra light.

    Bigger brakes. save the rest!

Lol at the above definitely have them yellow! Get a decent condition manifold-£150 max
A set of 266mm or 283s with performance pads- again £150 max depending on condition of discs and pads.
Spend the rest on a set of wheels with toyo or similar tyres with plenty of tread.
Sell your current wheels on to pay for the ones you've bought to be refurbed what ever colour you like!

Look for a piper 4-1 stainless manifold by the way. £150 should cover one.

    ^ rotfl!

    In this order:
    Big brakes,
    manifold (2nd hand?),
decent induction kit or wack a green cotton filter in the standard air box
    cams (2nd hand?),
    remap

£500 "might" cover that if your careful.

put that £500in an easy acees ISA --then save some more money --you will not get big power increase for £500 ,even in parts alone -set your goal on power level you want and save some more money and watch out for bargains

    New map, flash it yourself.

All the other bits, manifold, brakes, induction etc anybody can fit with a reasonable good tool kit.

^ good call actually. Save it for a year or two and plow the interest earned back in.
  31. #31
i think id save 500 quid , but if i was to buy parts for a saxo id be on the look out for some throttle bodies theres a set on here in the for sale section for £450 and that will leave you having to save up about another £500 for management if you keep your eyes peeled , but then again youwouldnt get that much of a benefit off of just TBs on their own , but would sound absolutly amazing!

    £150 for a remap
