LED Indicators

  1. #1
Bought some LED Indicator bulbs from ebay, they are definitely the correct fitment.

When I swap the rear bulbs over, the hazards work perfectly fine but then when I indicate they go really quick as if the relay has gone. And then when I try the front bulbs, they don't even light at all. As soon as I put the standard bulbs back in they work fine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I had some led rear tail lights. They were shit. Cheap chinese rubbish and caused me no end of problem, ended up getting rid and putting standard bulbs back in!

I know this isn't a solution as such, but my thoughts

they flash fast to tell you a bulb out normally, so 1 could have been loose

    1) Check that the baseplate is not corroded
    2) check the bulb is in correctly ie the right way some may have a pin slightly higher up the bulb than the other

as above its to tell you the system is not functioning correctly

Already made the mistake of buying cheap Chinese ones that were pap, bought some decent English made ones, that were a million times brighter (when I had hazards on lol) and better quality.

I tried the bulbs all different kinds of ways, but as you probs know they are offset pins so only really fit one way anyways.

That wouldn't be the reason for them not even working at all on the front though ? Or working when I turn the hazards on but not when indicating.

    You need a new relay...
Because of the flow rate, is differeent to standard bulbs, a different timed relay will sort it out!

Same as me as ive got led ones to go on zee bike and had to get another relat to fix the problem!
How you will know which one to get, i haz no idea!

    P.s. Clean my fucking bike!

you need to fit a resistor into the pos going to the led indicator as the circuit thinks a bulb has blown due to less current being used

to check what i mean get a standard bulb in a holder and link that up as well and the indicator will flash at the normal speed

Any idea what size resistor I need ?

i think this is what you need

    or one of these

You need the LEDS with canbus resistors in them to "fool" the ecu or whatever that it has the correct resistance bulbs in them. Therres a guy on here selling them for about £4 a set.

It's not sidelights dude, it's indicators.

yeah, same setup though isn't it? the relay circuit is looking for the correct resistance to make the indicators flash at the correct speed. reduce the resistance and they'll flash faster... that's what they used to do, I'm sure these would be the same.

Yeah I presume so, I don't wanna be spending 15 quid or so on a relay and then it still not working. Or buying and installing a resistor to each bleedy bulb.

Its a relay you need... But im better knowing my bike electrics rather than saxos lol...i can try and find out what you need or have it made up even! But dont know the price dude...

Get the relay try it, and man up boyo!

Get me the relay then ball sack. My bro reckons it's just the relay I need aswelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

Relay didn't work, fronts still not lighting and rears still going crazy.

pretty basic but have you tried taking the bulb out and rotating it 180 degrees as led bulbs only work when the pos and neg match the supply not like a standard bulb ?

Get yourself to Maplin and ask for 4 x 3 Watt Wirewound Resistor, about 2.2Ohm and get them soldered in parallel on the bulbs ... £1.88 later problem solved.

The bulbs have offset pins so only go in one way anyways pal.

Cheers mate, my bro works for an electrical company I'll get him to steal some !
