Is my cat gone..

My 1.1 saxo has been real bad just lately when setting of it would struggle and bog down also when turn corners in second and goto accelerate off it just hesitates and then moves off, when at idle the exhaust sounds bubbly and also does backfire, my cat has broken down inside because you can hear it rattle but would that cause these problems?

    No mate it wouldn't.

    What would
  4. #4
bad spark plugs cood cause the lag, dnt think a clogged air filter would make it that bad but check it anyway. make sure all your spark plugs are connected properly aswell.

Right, all plugs are fine nice and grey all are sparking, had new leads, plugs, coilpack fitted few months back. rules them out

iv read about a few problems causeing this ... either

    1. worn piston rings
    2. damaged coil pack
    3. broke or incorrectly gapped sparkplugs

mine does lack in power abit but only when iv just started the car and the engine is cold picks up again when iv been driving for about 5 mins

Dane that's exactly how my car is, won't be piston rings as compression is fine

to double check just loosen the bolts off prior to the cat and go a quick run, it'll be noisy as hell but if performance is back and it revs up freely then its a faulty cat, which to be honest, sounds very very likely
