Acceleration Issue

  1. #1
    Hi all,

Recently on my VTR when I floor it to accelarate the revs seem to jump up, but the car doesn't pull away. Then after a few seconds the revs drop back down and the car seems to 'catch up'. This doesn't happen if I accelerate 'normally', only when flooring it.

I thought it may be the clutch (I've done 105,000 miles) but there doesn't seem to be a problem changing gears.

    Any suggestions?

Most likly clutch mate do you get any smells after flooring it

    Cheers,

No smells that I've noticed - what should I be looking out for like? You any idea how much a replacement clutch (parts and labour) would be?

Was going to wait until the next service to get the timing belt done (last changed at 60,000 miles), but I might get that done with the clutch if it's not too expensive.

youd probably be looking at about 400 for a new clutch kit and timing belt, possibly 350 all together if done at same time. try wheel spinning if you cant do it you need a new clutch

    Thanks for your help.

I'll ask a few local garages and see what quotes I can get.

Sounds like clutch slip - time for a new clutch.
