Vtr or Vts conversion?

    I know this has been covered a million times before but couldn't find nowt.
    Would I be better off converting to a vts engine or a vtr engine, not just in terms of power but in running costs, insurance, ease of fitting etc also I've noticed, 8v parts are a lot cheaper than 16v parts :s all help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    8v parts are cheaper because no body wants them lol

    well i think it goes with out saying

    vts=BETTER

    vtr=the poor mans vts

    so basically vtr for low running costs, vts for power, which im sure you already knew so seams like a pointless thread...

    and in terms of fitting its exactly the same, the vts just has a bigger head to accommodate the extra cam, the only difference in fitting if your getting picky is that vts engine have a fuel return which most vtrs dont have which requires plumbing in, or you can do what i do and plenty others do which is to just block it off lol

    What would you suggest as I'm only 20 with 2yrs ncb(in nov)? Or should I just buy a vtr/s? Much insurance difference??

    i thinks this is going to be a fail thread

    well theres a massive difference in insurance the vtr is group7 and the vts is group14 cant really get much more of a difference lol

    at 20 yrs old its gonna be expensive enough to just insure a vtr! lol so id stick to buying a vtr, unless you can get the parts cheap enough and fit it all your self then just do the conversion

    Up to you, i got a vts when i just turned 19 with 2 claims against me. payed £2000 for insurance, you just have to battle it out and go for the vts when you know your going to have to pay more on everything or get the cheaper (slower) vtr, down to you.

    its alright, jsut stick with the vtr, also if you just buy a vtr first of all its a lot less hassle, and if its all standard, whereas if you convert your flat arch to a vtr then there there countless things that can go wrong after the conversion plus you dont get your vtr interior/body kit etc
