my 1.4 engine would just lose power and almost die as if it was starved of fuel, thinking oh its fucked, i got hold of a vtr engine and fitted it 
, i got it running on the drive took it for a spin, just down the road 2nd gear between 4k and 5k does exactly the same thing looses power and engine judders like its starved of fuel again so i leave it over night, go to turn it over this morning it turned over but wouldnt fire, i disconnected the ecu and connected it again and it started and so drove it home carefully, thought id give it a blip before i got in the drive, fucking thing did it all over again! im running my 1.4 ecu on the vtr engine, as the ecu is the only thing i havent changed since the conversion the ecu is probably the main problem to start with 
does this diagnosis sound right, should i go ahead and buy a new ecu?
