Power steering pump noise

   Hi i jut got home and thought id just leave the engine idling to see if i could sort a problem i have with my steering. I got out and i could hear from my left tyre a loud buzzing whining noise which i no is my pump is this normal to hear it that clearly without the bonnet up.

   Hi yah mate, mine does it all the time. as far as i knw they usually do it. mine sometimes whistles aswell. until its been on for about a minute.

   Mine does the same. Whining when you turn the steering wheel.

   Have been told its a common problem and nothing to worry. I hear mine whine when im steering and stationary or moving off extremely slowly. At driving speeds you dont notice it at all.

   mine did the same, sometimes the steering went stiff, was ok when moving but stationary could hardly move it. i just replaced it with a reconditioned one.

   This whinning is prob because the pump is on its way out, tbh easy to change + can pick them up cheap so would change it to stop the noises people are having and the struggle while turning when stationary

   it is best to change it if its on its way out, there is the trick of hitting it with a hammer, but you would have to keep doing it when you hear the noise

    pipe that goes from the bottle to the pump, 2 10mm's i think that hold it in then i think a plug thats about it, might be another pipe cant remember but very simple
