My door clicks when I open it :S

  1. #1
    Hi all,

My drivers door has started making a clicking sound when it opens past certain points. It doesn't seem to affect it in anyway, just just a rather irritating sound.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

    Thanks,

    Corey.

look at the metal "strap" near to the two hinges, its usually that which has worn.

And when it does you will end up needing a wing and maybe a door they cost £22.61 inc vat from pug or citroen, get it changed

Not good, would be getting it changed now be a good idea then? I don't really want to have to replace a door and wing when it does happen.

Is this a part I could get from a scrappy?

Have a look at the door strap as said above, there is 2 10mm iirc bolts that become loose over time, if they are then tighten them up. Problem solved

I'd change it sooner rather than later mate, the amount of people ive seen with bent wings from this very reason is unbelievable tbh, mate of mine did it, I warned him, 2days later he rang me asking me to see if I could get him a wing lol...for the sake of £20 mate and half hour of your time, id do it asap

ma passenger door wont stay in place when opened (keeps closing itself). could this be related to this problem?

Oil the door check's (there bassicly a hinge thats in the middle of the door, put some lubricating grease spray on it, works a treat after a while, dosent fix it immediatly, but let it work its way in and it will stop.

Ian - not really, it just means the catch mechanism in it isnt the best, mine dosent do it either, but stays open at one position only which is bassicly as far as it can go lol
