   what gaskets are best to use?.. the metal ones or the fibre ones?...

   metal multilayered, the earlier fibre ones are prone to blowing

   cheers ratty, i got another question for you!.
   you said before that you put the ax gti head onto the 1600 vtr bottom end.
   if i remember you said it was the best thing you did with the 8 valve engine, what i want to know is if i am using the gt head what cam would be best to use.
   what i mean is what would be most suited to the combination of 1600 block and 1400 head using the solex twin choke carb?. im looking for road use but i want it fairly furious but not to furious that you wont be able to pull off without leaving black trails all over the place..
   if you know what i mean!>..

   for ease of use you can use the solex, or if you can get it get some twin 40s which will make it go like a train, cam wise its up to you but all carbs will need to be setup depening on cam and revs etc you use.
