which gearbox???????????

   hi, i own a VTS but im thinking about putting a different gearbox in it. could people tell me what gearbox would ive me better acceleration?
   
   and also what could you get a gearbox out of a 1.8vts xsara to work? and what would that be like?
   
   also how about a gearbox out of the 1.5diesel saxo, what would that be like??

   A 1.0L box would give you better acceleration than anything. But you'd probably have nothing left at about 90MPH. Pretty pointless. Xsara box won't fit.
   The box a few people use is the one from an S2 Rallye.

   In terms of an 'upgrade' from what you have, from longest to shortest: S2 Rallye, 1.4 XSI, S1 Rallye. There's only ~2mph difference between VTS and S2 Rallye, so would only be worth going for a 1.4 XSI or S1 Rallye box imo.

   ok cool cheers guys, what would the 1.5deisel box be like? would it fit? im just curious cuz there a strong box

   If I remember rightly, all MA gearboxes use the same diff, so no gearbox will be 'stronger' than another. The diff is weakest part in these boxes.
   
   The 1.5D box doesn't have the sports cluster IIRC - I'd imagine the gears are long as hell, no good for a VTS.
