  1. #1
Looking at doing the 16v conversion on my mk1 vtr but am wondering if it is actually worth it?

If anyone on here has done it I would love to hear their opinions and advice on it and how much you paid for engines etc

i wouldnt say so. It's ok but nothing amazing.

I'm researching the mk2 golf vr6 engine swap at the moment. Now that's worth it!

    Shit loads more work though

yes! different to drive and way more fun.
Get a drive of a vts or 106gti and see for yourself, it doesnt feel to much quicker going vtr>vts but when you go vts>vtr you soon notice the differrence

haha sweeeet i'm definitely gonna go for it! how much did you all pay to get it done? like how much you got engine for and fitting and mileage engine had done etc?

i got rebuilt engine along with kent cams and lightend flywheel with that you can feel the difference and i payed 500 but only been able to drive it the once well worth it tho but id advise to put sum brembo breaks on from a 3 ltr 406 without them its bit sloppy when your cumin up to a round about at 90
  10. #10
haha my brakes are well on the way out lol! where did you get all your engine bits from stedixon?
  11. #11
the lad i got 2 do it got them but i wudnt recomend him as hes fuked me about but lightend flywheel you can pick 1 up for about 80 quid its well worth it you just loose alot of tourqe but who needs that in a saxo
  12. #12
lol i don't even know what a flywheel or what torque is, im such a novice when it comes to cars but i love speed so its all good haha

take it to a garage fella, get a pro to look at it, might cost a bit more but at least they will know what they're doing and wont fuck it up haha
  15. #15

  16. #16

  21. #21
i can do the conversion for £150 plus parts if its a plug in loom, if them loom isnt plug and play then a bit extra to cover doing the loom.
  22. #22
Yeahh i think it is mate, that extra 20bhp is very appealing!
