Engine Advice, Furio...

I've got a furio, and wanna do some minor-ish engine mods. I was thinking cams, and maybe even skimmed heads? Anything else in mind? And what sorta prices am I looking at?

I've done a search and couldn't really get much info on furio's etc..

    Cheers

Cams are a good idea mate.

I would also consider a 4-2-1 manifold, maybe a de-cat full s/s exhaust and induction kit?

    What do you think?

Well at the end of the day mate think about it like this!

For you to get any sorta power out of your engine your gona need:

Enclosed Induction Kit, Full Exhaust with De-Cat, 4 - 1 Manifold, Cam and Re-Map.

This is going to cost alot.. I would estimate £1500 - £2000.

For that price you could do an engine conversion from a VTS and slightly mod that!

It would produce more Power / £.

    Up to you tho mate!

for what it will cost you in cams id get a vtr engine and stick your head on it thus making it a 1.6 furio, will be the best power and torque you can spend for £££ and will be faster than it would be with cams.

wouldnt he be better off keeping the vtr head or what?.. this is just a question by the way im not arguing against what you said because i know you know your stuff!... but can you explian how using the furio head would be better?.
as you probably know yourself, i have used a 1.4 head on my vtr engine but havent driven it yet as the project is unfinnished!.

turbo it, make the fatsest furio ever.

    Lol, appreciate the help...

I'm thinking that cams won't add too much to the insurance though, and I can get a manifold without pushing the insurance up either.

Ratty what implications would I get with insurance if I put the 1.6 with the furio head in?

And how much am I looking at to turbo it?

reason I say 1.4 head ono 1.6 bottom end is that you can keep all standard settings ie ecu, wiring, its basically a bottom end swap, this means you get a faster 1.4 without the need to get anything set up. (more torque and more power for a simple bottom end swap)

my ax gti (100bhp) went to 121 at the fly with the 1.6 bottom end and a dastek. (didnt get wheel figs at that time)

and not that i condone this but its impossible to tell the difference for insurance purposes (short of taking the engine apart)
  10. #10
so they wont know if its got a vtr bottom in it! unless they take it all apart which i dont think they will as they wouldnt have the need too.

when you guys mention change the bottom end? what do you mean. . im abit confused. .
  12. #12
    bottom end for sale
  13. #13
So do I have to buy a VTR bottom end or can I get a VTR engine and separate it?

Clearly an amateur at anything under the bonnet...

And is that eBay one for real? £10.60 with only 3000 miles?

seems right but WAYYYYYYYYYYY to cheap, email him an offer of £150 and see what he says

How much would it cost for a garage to fit the bottom end of a vtr to a westcoast or furio?? Pay day coming up!!
  16. #16
what power increase would you be looking at with putting a vtr bottom end in a furio?
  17. #17
anybody know what sorta power gains you would see with the vtr bottem end on the furio head???
  18. #18
iam sure greame would sort you out with the fitting down at motorwize
  19. #19
or just put a vtr lumb in it
