   what does this actuallly , do i know wat remap is , but unlock ??

   The ECU is locked to an imobiliser which is locked to a key. So if they don't match up you can't start the car.
   
   So if you unlock it, it means you can start the car with any key.
   People usually unlock them if they have bought them second hand as theirs has stopped working properly, or when doing an engine conversion.
