If you take an unlocked mapped ecu from one car & fit it to a similar car with similar modifications. Will it work ?

So if car 1 a vts had : for eg a single plug ecu

    Newman phase 3's
    Piper induction kit
    Supersprint exhaust & manifold

    Car 2 a vts had :

    Catcam 708's
    Raceland induction kit
    Raceland Manifold
    Kam Exhaust

Could you fir the ECU from car 1 on to car 2 & would it run ok ? or would it just be miles out ?

I'd say no, best to get remapped as the cam timing maybe different slightly

will be better than standard ecu thats for sure

No two engines are the same, so using an ECU mapped for someone elses car which (assuming you're talking about a cammed VTS) is not likely to have exactly the same cam timing etc. is pointless imo.

itl be better then using a standard ecu but not worth spending money on, eg i you have to buy the ecu id just save more and get your own ecu mapped

I can clone the maps (except superchips), so for a cheap solution its not a bad idea but not totally ideal as people have said. Will be loads better than a standard one though. I imagine using a similar map and having it custom done would only see a few bhp difference.

it'll run, better than with a standard ecu but not as well as if it was live mapped

    as above
  9. #9
as everyone is saying is there a reason behind this?

How do you mean a reason? Every engines different. Some you can push further than others.
