Horrible clunking (not clucking) coming from underneath??

I've had this problem for a few weeks now but it's got to an unbearable point where something needs to be done.

Basically when I go over any bumps (even slight ones) on a road a loud and horrible clunking sound, like metal on metal, comes from rear of the car (more passenger than driver). At first I thought it might be my exhaust as I had one fitted about 3 months ago, but after taking it to the garage that fitted it, they checked and said it defo wasn't that and showed my that there was too much of a gap for it to be in contact with anything.

To be honest I don't have an extensive knowledge of cars but was wondering if the rubber bushes had worn, is it a possibility that this could be the cause. I'm going to take it to my pals garage either this weekend or next but was hoping to maybe get some advice off anyone on here first.

Anyone got any idea's, it's driving me mad and makes my car sound like a scrapper

I worked out what mine was the other day.

Bottom engine mount was worn away, meaning the engine was moving more than it should which in turn was stressing the joint where my exhaust joins onto the mani.

    Check that maybe?
