Rear axle compatibility?

Firstly hello everyone, I'm new here, very good forum
Just trying to get hold of a rear axle for my 1998 VTS, a local breaker has one from an 02 VTR, I believe they are the same? but thought I'd better ask before I buy it?
    Thanks!.

    Hello and thanks.

If your VTS has ABS then make sure the VTR beam has ABS too.

However you can swap the trailing arms over with new bearings or just the hubs etc

Cheers!, just bought the car and it's in garage so not sure at the min?, my bearings have collapsed, if the new beam has ABS and say, mine doesn't? would it be possible to swap the hubs?

Probably the bearings that run on the inner stub pin that goes into the beam. Usually if the bearings have collapsed then the inner pin would have worn too.

Its usually false economics to buy a second hand replacement beam as that could be fucked too, or wont last a few weeks before you have the same problem. So its usually wise to get a refurbed beam. Otherwize yes, you can swap your vts parts onto the vtr beam.
