155k miles on my VTR

  1. #1
right well my aunt gave me her 1999 t reg saxo VTR for free, yippieee

its got 155k on the clock now,

do you think its worth modifieing? cos for all i know with that many miles it could blow up tommorow, whats everyones verdict on this?

is starts fine and seems to be running sweet as a nut which is a good thing i suppose.

what miles are everyones saxos on now?

i have a 1.1 saxo aswell, and the engine needed replacing after 90k miles.

do VTR engines tend to last longer?

    any thoughts would be awsome

    thanks

Ye startin modding it if engine does blow up just change it it's cheap enough to get engine swapped over

if you got the car for free then use the money to get a vts lump or another vtr engine with lower mileage.

as above i have a vtr engine with 79k on if you want one

Just buy transferable mods. I've spent money on buckets and lights, alloys ect because I reckon I will upgrade to a vts at some point and can put them on it.

not all the best mods from a vtr fit a vts tho, expecially the cams.

well i had my 1.1 lowered 50mm so im gonna get the springs off them and then get it up on the ramp to get torsion bar adjusted,
feels like im in a boat driving my vtr compared to my 1.1
    hate it haha

The engine can be replaced within 2 hours...

Id mod it if the chassi is ok...no excessive rust. Or if theres a host or problems like rear beam, rust, bearings all round etc. If its structurally sound then why not!

If the engines running ok then i'd see theres no point in changing it for another. Just service it and it will be ok for another couple thousand miles.

well theres ones on here on 178k and they still going strong so might aswell and then when it does go swap the engine
