I have a vts and want a manifold. I always see these two on ebay. Are they any good and if so whats the best one to go for? Cheers Riki.

Sorry but I do not know how to do the clicky things. Cheers again for the help.

dont know the first but the seconds the raceland. ssc have a couple of group buys on them. id go on there and ask whos actually fitted theres and see what they thought. what gains, easier to fit extra. if your not sure id just get a miltek etc, least you knoe exactly what your getting.

I got the Pro-tech one a few weeks ago form ebay for £142 and I’m not best pleased with it! It seems to be quicker between 3-4000 but I’m sure I’ve lost a bit off the top end! And really when you want to go fast you take it to the red line then change (5-7000). So I think it’s actually slowed my car down! I’ve been looking up on the design on them and if I remember rightly the length of the 4 pipes joining into 2 should be the same length as the 2 pipes that join into 1. So the second one looks the better design! But isn’t that very similar to the standard one?? If I was you id go for a 4-1 design that will give you more top end and not learn the hard way like me!

Cheers guys. I am after more acceleration tho. I'll just have to save loads then and get a miltek 1 or something like that. Cheers for the help. If anybody else have any opinions feel free to let us know.

Gmc or supersprint would be my choice.

I've got a piper one...apparently the same as GMC although I have no clue and it's pretty decent! I'd go for either GMC or Supersprint though, at least you know what you're getting with the pair of them

dito, i have a gmc and im happy with it

but not everyone wants to spend £250 - £350 when you can get just as good quality for £160 the raceland monifold is just as good as the GMC one and its 4-2-1 which is better for VTR's as they are known for there low down power

bit of a thread hijack here but i need this question answered!

will the raceland mk1 manifold fit on my vts?

    sorry again for the hijack!
  12. #12
Sorry to be a pain in the ass but would the 2nd one be the best out of the two??? No worries bout the hijack
  13. #13
Second one?? Out of what? Raceland and GMC? Or GMC and Supersprint? Out of all the manifolds out there, in my opinion, Supersprint would be top as it's a quality piece of kit, followed by GMC for its price/quality balance.

Saxo_Wilson had a Supersprint fitted on his VTR and everything lined up perfectly, no bother at all, quality piece of kit

My Piper one took about 3 times as long to fit as the bolts were impossible to reach in order to tighten them up.

Yes the Supersprint one is a lot more expensive...Just depends how you're wallet is I suppose

I'll look into a gmc. Sorry I was talking about the two from ebay. Cheers guys. Riki

Go for the GMC 4-1 the pro-techs a waste of time and money! The standard manifolds better! And the 2nd one looks just like a tubular version of the standard manifold so i dont really see how it will increase the power.

Sorry to be a pain; again. What about this ashley simpson racing one or still go for the gmc. Cheers Peeps.

Cheers for the help guys. i will get one of them next month then hopefully. Do they make the exhaust much louder as well as mine is loud at the moment. Many thanks. Riki
  22. #22
    mine made it louder
  23. #23
I have a magnex double box system on mine so it was very quiet, stuck the manifold/decat on and it was a little louder...took the silencer box out (leaving just the backbox) and it was a lot louder. Will definatly make a difference noise wise
  24. #24
yep, i have a single box large bore magnex system. my manifold and de-cat mad it even louder and a little more raspier, but you could feel the difference

It depends what you want from a manifold,

Sainless steel is expensive so will cost a few quid, but shudnt need replacing unless it cracks (which can be common as stainless steel becomes very brittle when hot, when hammering your car you could/can crack it)

mild steel is cheaper, but wil rot after a while.

which ever you pick, think about wrapping it with exhaust wrap.
this cuts out the heat transfered into the engine bay via the manifold. it keeps the manifold hotter and allows the gases to flow better through the exhaust.
also allows your engine to run cooler as the heat can not transfer from the manifold into the engine bay. this stuff is that good, you can touch the manifold when the car is running. it will be warm but wont burn your hand
