Reasons why cam shaft seal would come off?

hi people. been fixing my vts the past 2 nights, have finally completed working on the car- replacing cam belt pulleys etc and fitted a new cam seal (as the old one worked its way out) so i drove to work this morning to find the same thing has happened again! oil all over the place.

    anyone ahve any ideas?

How sure are you that it was in exactly the right place when you bolted the cam ladders down? They can sometimes fall slightly out of true when you put the ladders on (mine did a couple of times, but we noticed and lined them back up), which will obviously mean they don't seal properly.

tbh i didnt have the ladders off, i tapped the seal in place. is this where i have gone wrong? saying that the same procedure was used on the other cam shaft and its been fine.

is there a possibility that from where it was leaking before that there is still oil where the seal should be located there for allowing it to move?

You probably didnt have it sitting right. My mate and I did my cams on the weekend and he said if the seals arent right then they can leak. Id guess and say the pressure of the oil also forced your seal out.

im pretty sure the seal was sat right i did tap it all the way round and could hear when it touched the back of the head? i wonder how much oil pressure runs down the back of the seal
