Well you'd be looking at exhaust, manifold and filter.

Cams and remap next but what about a type r lump instead?

Does anyone know where I can get my saxo remapped in Sussex area?! Numbers, websites or anyone on here can do it for cash would be appreciated I hear it makes a big difference and defo a good investment on the performance side..

    Much appreciated

remaps are a waste of time unless you have other mods like cams etc that the remap can make the most out of them for you. best to remap once all the other mods are done to see a real difference in power mate!

first of all pretty much nothing that works on a saxo works on a v-tec engine apart from induction and exhaust.

you need to keep your exhaust at 2.5 inch or vtec becomes bogged.
4-2-1 are rubbish on vtec engines also. you get more power from smething like a 4 into 1. dc sports are pretty much the best.
a re- map on a v-tec engine lowers the rpm the vtec kicks in at making more horses at low revs.

most of all if you get your engine k-pro'd you can add anything from progressive nitrous to turbos and superchargers.

for just over a grand you can take your type s upto 190 horse still wont be as fast as a type r because of the weight and other factors but should be pretty nippy.

there are a few forums out there that are worth joining such as type r owners forum and ep2 club. but if u want to be different scrap the engine and drop a cammed b18 engine in and a free flow 2.5 inch exhaust and skunk intake and your looking at a easy 220 horse and a type r eater. hope this helps mate i use to live and eat hondas before my ek9 got stolen and is now in cyprus waiting for the insurance to import it back lol.

First thing proper honda tuners do is get rid of the vtec, look at the touring car engines.
  14. #14
i agree with ax yet again, for your engine you need a supercharger or live with it the way it is, anything less is pointless

ha ha totally wrong touring car engines run on full time v-tec wothout the standard lobes on the camshaft v-tec is the name ggiven to the change over via-solanoid from std road cams to a high lift lobe on the shaft giving a hike in 20% of performance why would you want to get rid of it when it gives so much power the only reason to do it is what many people do with type r's and put the solanoid on a switch so it can be driven to save fuel and not hit v-tec or be switched on for power.

So if they use 1 lobe (vtec lobe) technically its just like a normal conventional highlift camshaft? Hence no "vtec crossover"?

Ok im totally wrong i know nothing No need to laugh either...
  17. #17
no mate the v-tec lobe opens the 2 intake valves at the same time instead of there been a lobe per valve its well complicated and took me agers to understand it this helps tho -----http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc800hkqY2M

if u can understand v tec u can understand anything.

May you can log on obdii.fr and have a look at the products

and then decide what to do

All due respect, im very familiar with how it works. Read the msa s2000 engine regs. All im trying to say is for race engine tuning the variable timing is scrapped in favour of a conventional camshaft set up as per regs. The high lift lobe could possibly be the same spec as a high lift conventional cam, its doesnt mean its on vtec all the time, after all the vtec means basically, two cam profiles so if your only running 1 profile, there is no vtec.

As per nearly all cars out there, better exhaust system and better induction system to start mate
  21. #21
So if they remove the vtec do the owners just say "y0!" ?

    Bickerton - Epic comment tbh..

As for VTEC and race engines etc, colin is correct..

The VTEC that the ricers know and love is ideal for road use, as it offers highlift camshaft performance at higher RPM's and good fuel economy at low RPM's..

Its not ideal for race cars, its not needed on a race car either..I dont know of any proper Honda race car that uses the "VTEC Y0!" version of its engines..

For the record, i do love Honda's and i want an ek9 after my C2..My brothers ek9 was awesome..

i would kill to have my ek9 back made u feel like a race driver every time you got in it although mine was a bastard with a b18a1 from a import integra instead of the b16a2 engine. and as for the v-tec not being used on the btcc cars your probs right. but honda do say its on constant v-tec this is probs for marketing reasons as it helps get there cars out the door. and i seem to remember that moto gp repsol honda bikes use v-tec who knows?????? anyways better off keeping it for road use unless you turbo it or charge it then u wont have a need to and can deffo say '' v-tec y0!!!!! ''
  25. #25
SORRY!!!!!! my mistake the new fn2 shape civic s2000 car thats used in the btcc now dosnt use v-tec it was only the factory honda ep3 type r that run the ''constant'' gotta admit tho 300bhp from a 2ltr engine n/a is pretty mean would be a beast for the roads lol.
