Bad idle

I have a mk2 vts it's a 4-2-1 manifold straight through exhaust and apparently has been Cammed with Kent cams I say apparently cause I have receipts for the cams and last owner said it had been done plus I got the worst idle ever and sometimes cuts out when I took head off to look at cams I didn't see any codes on the cams will I see any codes or markings if it been cammed and will a remap help the idle out and get the best of power out of the mods I gave on the car already if so any one no of any where to get it done in the Colchester area thanks.

Should see some sort of markings, standard have numbers on them iirc, check out my progress thread and theres a pic of Standard Cams on page 4, compare them Numbers on them are 96 or 93 or something similar

A remap would help, but with your mods I would definitely recommend an Aftermarket ECU such as the Predator ECU. Very cheap compared to most on the market and includes the correct map for your car

Hi thanks for that info I see the pictures you had and I sure I had numbers similar to that I think it was 98 or something though so will this mean it's not been cammed. I been told that the standard cams can be re profiled which will give same effect as updated cams don't no how true this Is though.

It is true that you can re-profile standard cams to make them act in the same way as after market cams, people sell 106's/Saxo's these days saying they are cammed when they ain't, just gets all the people interested in them.

If your going to cam a car, get real aftermarket cam's

I just had it serviced and had the throttle body cleaned and still the same plus the fuel is all over the place I think I just need to get it into a garage to see exact problems
