Need to elaborate, how much petrol are we talking?

What do you get to a full tank roughly and hows you driving.

I get about 320 miles to a tank in my VTR and thats driving hardish so I would expect 350+ miles if driving concervatively

well i put £30 in and it took it nearlly full i went about 50-60 miles and it went down to empty so i filled up again and did around 30 miles and it dropped to half a tank. im driving it smoothly. Not sure how much it gets 2 a tank as i havnt owned it very long.

    Can tou smell it?

Ive noticed a strong smell, comes from the engine bay as its burning off the mani, as its leaked from the injectors!

A light smell, was it there? Oh no, wwait maybe... Kinda smell, check the fuel lines under the car, and fuel filter.

check all the fuel lines and the seals on the injectors they tend to perish and leak
  10. #10
sounds like you have a serious fuel leak. Does the car amell of petrol at all ?
  11. #11
Yeah fuel leak by the sound of it mate
It should not be using £30 for 60miles!!

Even if its running rich and overfueling I dont see it using that much, as above can you smell fuel anywhere?
  12. #12
Hi all thanks for the replys i cant smell any fuel atall and cant see or smell any leaks from the fuel lines ill check the bay in a min
  13. #13
well iv checked the bay and there is not any leak there?
  14. #14
maybe a silly thing like your thermostat housing
because if that's shot then the ecu thinks the engine is constantly cold therefore it puts shit load more fuel in .

Just done a quick calculation & you are doing 10 mpg at best

You must have a fuel leak or the car would run terrible
