miss fire / engine "stutters" ??

The idle on my vtr is fairly good, its when crusing between 70 - 90 i have problems!
it miss fires / stutters, which can vary in size and regularity.
sometimes it doesn't do it at all and so is puzzling as to why it is so intermitent!
has anyone else had similar problems and how did you fix it?
help greatly appreciated as this is really starting to grind my nuts!

Does the temperature gauge go up and down randomly? It was what happened to mine when the head gasket went. It took me ages to work out what it was! There was an air lock in the cooling system and every now and then it would stutter when the airlock was at some temperature sensor and it was under and over fueling when it thought the engine was hot or cold. try bleeding the cooling system and see if it still stutters.

I wouldn't have thougt it would have been anything to do with the cooling system, thanks for the tip!
i'll add it to the things to check at the weekend!

I've heard of simular problems. It will be a sensor of some sort (i think) i've got the word on the end of my tongue. But just cant get it out.

Could be the coil pack. You will be wishing it isn't though.

I'm sure someone will correct me on some of this.

heard that coil packs aren't cheap!
is there anything else that could be checked/replaced which may fix it?

Try a search for miss fire or coilpack or sensors. I'm certain its been mentioned before
