turbo kit

  1. #1
Hiya can someone please tell me if this turbo kit is OK for my vtr? It's probably a load of crap, but if it will work, even with a bit of messing aorund, it's gotta be worth it for £300.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Citro...Q5fAccessories

It looks like a universal kit but it could be made to fit right? I don't really know a lot about engines/turbos etc so could you remap the ecu? Or will a new one be needed?

Sorry for all the questions just looking for a bit of advice thats all.

to be fair i dont care about massive boosts on my car lol all i want is a dump valve lmao and at a cheap price like that then all is good, its just fitting is going to rape you people will probably charge a fortune to fit it, people have gave him good feedback but how many have actually fitted them?

Good point but someone would of left negative feedback if they were really that bad.

I got a friend whos a mechanic that would fit it for me. It' his fault i want turbo anyway after he put one on his car.

    what about it?
  14. #14

Does that turbo kit come with all of this?

Adapter for the standard manifold to the turbo
    downpipe from the turbo
    oil feed line
    oil return line
boss welded into the sump for the return
    Boost pipes
    Intercooler
    silicone hoses of various bends
silicone vac hose for dump valve and boost gauges
    boost gauge
    dump valve
    2.5bar map sensor
4 bigger injectors (use dastek and map sensor module to run this option)
MF2 and sigcon (runs extra one or two injectors along side the oe 4 if not going for dastek option)

The above is the basic "safe" list of what you want, obviously you will need to lower compression this can be done by either getting the thickest repair headgasket you can get or get a decompression plate. Budget around 2.5k for the above IF you can do ALOT of the work yourself, if not at least double it if going to a well established company.

I don't think I wanna spend that much on a saxo lol.

But thats what you need to turbo it. This is what im getting at.

That kit on ebay is just a shit turbo, intercooler some stainless pipe and a fan. You will still need injectors, fuel pump management etc etc etc....

Put it this way, mines cost me roughly 2k so far at a guess and i did alot of work myself and used alot of second hand bits.
  18. #18
Yeah like I said I thought the kit might be a load of crap. Just thougt I'd ask the experts.
  19. #19
lol ok mate, well im not an expert at all but i can assure you that it is a load of crap
  20. #20
I think the min you can go for turbo is £1000 thats with alot of mates rates and help....

The ecu will cost as much as that kit... looks shit anyway... and that turbo probs couldnt handle more than 5psi lol
  21. #21
It may be cheap but its not what I would call good value. That old saying is so true “buy cheap, buy twice”

check on there its my mates cheap turbo conversion he got everything done for around £600 - £700 including management the lot, in the end the car was crashed by his mate so the kit may be for sale, doesnt look tidy but it did the job

    perfect kit++

You would if you drove something with boost lol

Think about it, a car weighing 700-800kg with a turbo on it, compared to a car weighing 1.2 ton's with the turbo

Sax would be faster with a turbo kit running a safe 170bhp compared to one weighing nearly double that with 220bhp or so

I do like the boost kits that the audi TT comes with, as there fun to drive, the mini cooper S is also another car to be thinking about when it comes into the league of turbo hot hatches (and i beleive, correct me if im wrong... 180 bhp?)

    1. It costs $239 to get delivered to the uk and I dont know if that includes import duties

    2. Its quality will be shite

    3. Its about half of what is needed

    quote from this 'Installation'

"# There are no installation instructions included. The install is simple and most customers install it themselves in a weekend. If you cannot figure it out or feel uncomfortable with the installation, please have a professional assist.
    # Most of these parts are direct bolt-ons. Some are not.

    * The piping needs to be fitted up. Because of the bends and couplers included, it should be simple.
    * The T3 turbo flange needs to be welded to an adapter pipe or directly to the stock manifold.
    * To run this on a street car, the turbocharger down pipe will need to be connected to your existing exhaust. Expect to fabricate an adapter pipe or have an exhaust shop connect them."

    Prepare to waste your money...
