Driving to an MOT

I hear you can drive to the test centre if your car is out of MOT.
What's the score if said test centre is over 100 miles away?

This is legit btw i have to go to southampton to get it done

Tbh in theory you are driving to a test centre so are allowed im guessing, but you will have a hard job persuading mr policeman the reason your travelling 100miles for an MOT.

Iirc then if you are insured then driving to the mot station is allowed also it has to be a pre-arranged mot test

Cool i thought that was the case.

It was booked tomorrow but as my car is still decatted im going to have to purchase the correct system for my car and a cat doh!

You can drive to a PRE-BOOKED MOT and home from the MOT if it fails. You are not allowed to travel anywhere else. i.e, you can't take a diversion on the way home to pick up a tax disc.

There is no 'official' limit. So there's nothing stopping you taking the car 100 miles to get it MOT'd, but they can still do you for driving an unroadworthy vehicle if there is something seriously wrong with it. But they can do you for that, even with an MOT.

All ok unless they declare it unroadworthy, in which case they cannot let you drive it home, ie order it off road!

I was under the impression you could drive a car to MOT station if pre booked but am sure it has to be the nearest one to you

i got done for driving ''excess milage to mot test centre in a unroadworthy car '' in my old fiesta rs i was driving 30 miles to my uncles garage 30 miles away but they pulled me for 2 bald tyres but they were looking for something my advice would be to go to a local mot test startion because if they pull u and u get a jobs worth he will find something wrong with your car.

you can drive to and from a mot garage without mot, and within 25mile if you dont have tax, aslong as its booked in at the garage. if you get pulled, the police will ring the garge and comfirm your reg thats booked in.
