Damned saxo giving me grief already

Hi folks hoping someone can help me out a tad. I've had my MK2 VTR for 3 days and it's costuing me money already. In the latest episode I was pottering down the M3 na for some reason the battery light came on for a second then went back off again.

Shortly after it came on and stayed on. I'm wondering if anyone knows what it could possible be?

If anyone has any experience with this problem and had it solved and could pass on any ideas it'd be appreciated.
I think I know what it could be but don't want to replace it just in case
    Thanks

    Alternator or battery

Alternator because if your battery is going flat whilst driving it means the battery is getting no charge best to replace both tbh.

Get a volt meter on the scene. I had this but the battery light didnt come on but the dials went haywire then the car stopped and the battery was dead so my bro put a volt meter on it and it said the battery was dead so we then put a full battery on it and started her up and put the volt meter on again and it said there was no charge coming from the alternator..... turned out that the alternator wiring had burn out hence why nop battery light on in the car.

when the car is running get a voltmeter on the battery should be around13-14v if so then the alternator is charging. Best way to check if the battery is fooked is to get a hydrometer on it but if not put a multimeter across the battery and put the lights on for about 30-40 seconds and then start the car up if the battery drops below around 10v then the battery is probably fucked

That's the first thing I thought as I believe the alternators are common for going on these?

Luckily I got the car with a warrantly which should cover it so it should be ok

Another stupid question probably but does the centre console normally light up when you flick the lights on only mine don't and I was wondering if it's related?

Another issue is the drivers side window doesn't go down? it's not a switch as I've tried 3 different ones. I'd believe the wiring is f**ked sadly

    Ta in advance

I asked the guy at the garage who said apparently some didn't light up??

    Smeels a bit fishy personally.

give it a tap. They all light up but the connections are dodgy. Mine's on and off like a christmas tree!
