Right so 110k on a 1.6 16v? Is that wayy too much or is it reasonable?

    I've never owned a car over 70k miles so i haven't got a clue

problem is the car is my dream saxo so i'm willing to surrender to the money pit!

    opinions?

I would take A Car with that Mileage but only after its been checked as with that kind of Mileage its A risk buying it but if its got any Service history that should give the good sign but if it hasnt as I should you should check the Engine to make sure things are all good.

I got my vts on 120k, it had been rebuilt at 100k though. I personally wouldnt mind something with high milleage. As long as there are plenty of receipts for work done to it and it looks as if it has been cared for.

Check things like the cambelt, water pump etc are done on it as these are normally costly parts to have changed.

Mine has done 127k and was rebuilt it 90. Mines fine, love her to bits, engine is tight as she ever was, but its the other bits, that break on mine. ARB...Alternator, battery, that sorta crap.

nothin wrong with a car that has a few miles on! if anything parts have worn and been replaced. as long as its had regular servicing itll be fine!

Personally I wouldn't buy one with that sort of mileage unless it had full service history, minimal owners and most/all the old paperwork

    110k means nothing mate.

You can have a car with 110k on and full service history and a couple of owners that would be mint

And a car with 50k miles on, no service history and 10owners that would be fucked.

If the car has paperwork, history, reciepts, mots and looks straight then imo there is no reason not to buy

Milage means nothing really.... i had a 16v conversion done on my furio and the shell was on 113000 when i did the conversion but the engine i put in had had the head replaced so there was no telling of what the milage was on and since being in my saxo iv put another head on it due to a bolt smashing the other one so my engine has been rebuilt and i have no idea what the milage is but it runs sweet as a nut. just depends if its been looked after ie serviced and not raged around. you may buy a car that has 110000 on the clocks but somebody could have put a 150000 mile engine in, you would never know...

my vts has 169000 and goes like a steam train, i get it serviced by a led a know for a few quid plus parts i have to hbuy but ig still goes like a vts should. i presume it has been rebvuilt but it was owned by a few mechanics at the same little garage i brought it from and ui was assured ther engine was rebuilt and it was serviced regularly, otherwise i wouldnt have brought it

with that milage it 'should' mean the car is dirt cheap? anyway slightly off subject, i know of someone with a berlingo which uses the same engine as the c2, and its on 240'000 miles and still the standard engine lol wild

If its the car you want and its running properly with service history and receipts ect then go for it. As mentioned above a car with high mileage but well looked after will be 9 out of 10 a lot better than a ragged low miler that has had no care and servicing in its life time. Could always get a re-build if your happy with the car and planning on keeping it for a while anyway.

Okay i went to see the car today - it had so many faults!

Smoking on idle even when warm - rev counter didnt work - air bag light was on - bumper just didn't fit - dint in the roof causing the sun roof to leak -

As much as i love the colour i obviously walked away - i went and bought a silver mk1 instead So you'll be seeing me on here a lot more SaxP

    BTW = AVOID THIS CAR:

Glad you walked away mate, its so easy to just buy a car because of looks. This normally results in £££££'s of costly labour and parts to get the car you should have bought. Hopefully the car you went for will be problem free!! If there is a french car like that out there!! Good luck!
