Stalling when braking and dipping clutch

  1. #1
    Hi peoples.

Ive learnt to just put up with it but i think i need to get to the route of the issue.

Basically as im braking to come to a stop and dip the clutch the car will try and stall.
Sometimes it will just drop its revs really low, judder and come back. Other times the lights will come on (as it does when the car stalls) But it will catch itself and be ok. And others it just dies.

Problem is that when it does go to stall the brake pedal goes stiff as it would when the ignition is off (not very safe)

Dunno if i can put it down to the brakes slowing the engine down quicker and the ICV not reacting well enough? But the ICV is all clean and ok.

    Ideas people?
I need the valve stem seals replaced but could it be related to this?

    Regards

    Sam

Its worth a shout, but sounds like the same thing I had last night, Coilpack/Spark plugs, car was struggling to move and some points, even worse, every time it stalled I needed to enter the code to start it

Sparks are all brand new and the coilpack is working fine. Surely if it was that the problem would be worse at high revs where it has to do more? Thanks for the reply though

Mine was all over the place last night, low revs in higher gears was the main problem, say 3rd gear at 30 it struggled and stalled. I haven't a clue what else would be at fault, someone on here will know though Hope you get it sorted buddy

it sounds like you need to give the idle control valve a good clean with carb spray.

the brake problem your saying is due to the engine almost stalling as the brakes rely on vaccum for the servo for the brakes so if there is your car almost stalling there would be no vaccum for the brakes or have you checked the conection from the brake servo to the inlet manifold to see if there is a leak?

ICV is clean but ill give it another blast to be sure. Never thought of checking the connection between the servo and the inlet. Will do that asap. IS it the big pipe to the left of the MC?

    yea it is

Just had a look. Was very loose at the end that joins the inlet. Could pull it off with some a little force. Will take it off and check for leaks when its a tad dryer. Then pop it back on and see whats happening then
