That's why stretched tyres taking them outside there spec are illegal. Cant think of anything off hand that would work well on such wide rims and still fit under the Saxos arches. Avon do some right oddball tyres its worth dropping them an email and see what they can do for you.

Always was really. The tyres approval for road use that is required by law in the UK only applies to a tyre fitted to its given specification. It is just one of those many things that people chose to ignore.

Think most police would struggle to work out what to do you for so just let it fly. It would normal be “unsuitable” from “construction and use” or possible “dangerous”. It would be a lot easier to prosecute for unsuitable as according to the manufactures it is so. Though as most police don't have all the regs to hand and cant memories the hole lot they may even just phone up your insurer. Odds are once the police officer explains to them the tyre is fitted incorrectly and not suitable for road use then asks them if they will still insure you to use the vehicle on the road you can guess what they will say.
